French musician Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as DJ Kavinsky, has died at the age of 50 at his home in Paris. The electropop artist was best known for his 2011 track Nightcall, which served as the title song for the film Drive starring Ryan Gosling.
Cause of death under investigation
The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed that an inquiry into the cause of death has been opened. First responders found no suspicious elements at the scene, according to a statement from the office.
Belorgey performed Nightcall at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, alongside Belgian singer Angèle.
Legacy of Nightcall and Drive
Nightcall became a cultural phenomenon after its inclusion in Drive, helping to define the film's atmospheric synthwave soundtrack. The track was originally released in 2010 and gained widespread acclaim.
Belorgey's death was first reported by French media on July 29, 2026. He is survived by his family.
