When a man turned over his date's phone during dinner, he found a detailed 'Date Assessment' in OneNote, complete with category scores and notes on his jaw, smile, and conversational habits. Far from being offended, he used the discovery to spark a conversation that led to a second date and an official relationship.
The discovery that changed the evening
The anonymous man, who shared his story with Metro, had been on his first date in nine months after a painful breakup in July 2025. He met Roselyn (name changed) on Instagram, drawn in by her bio about having strong opinions on escalators. After a month of late-night texts and hour-long phone calls, they arranged to meet at a restaurant near her place.
About 30 minutes into the date, Roselyn stepped outside to take a client call, leaving her personal phone on the table. The screen lit up with a notification from OneNote — a 'Date Assessment' — and the app was already open. Curiosity got the better of him, and he read the note.
What the note revealed
The assessment was remarkably structured, with sections for First Impression, Conversation, Green Flags, and Compatibility. It included a score system, with Roselyn giving him 76/100 for First Impression and a 'Total so far: 89'. Under 'Potential Liabilities', she had written: 'Maybe too charming. Charming men are exhausting – monitor.' Under 'Green Flags', she noted he hadn't looked at his phone once.
