A man was left astonished after collecting a hot food bag from the beloved bakery Wenzel's, with one aspect of his order leaving him particularly amazed. He purchased the £4.75 bag through Too Good To Go, a social impact company dedicated to fighting food waste. The app, described as the world's largest marketplace for surplus food, allows users to rescue good food from going to waste while offering great value at local stores, cafes, and restaurants. Participating venues typically sell produce at 50 to 75 percent less than the original value, enabling customers to grab sought-after surprise bags at bargain prices.
TikTok Creator Puts Wenzel's to the Test
TikTok content creator Bryce, known online as Bryce's Adventure, has been testing various food establishments via the discount app and sharing his experiences with followers. Most recently, he secured a hot food bag from Wenzel's, a London-born family bakery that opened its first outlet in 1975 and has since grown to over 100 locations, becoming a cherished institution.
Upon arriving at Wenzel's, Bryce filmed a staff member who asked him to wait a few minutes. When he received the bag, he was immediately struck by its heaviness and eager to see what was inside. The brief wait, it seemed, was worthwhile.
Unpacking the Surprise Bag
The main bag contained several smaller pouches, each holding at least one baked item. After returning home, Bryce filmed himself unpacking each product, presenting it to the camera, and sampling the mystery goodies. He began: 'I'm back with my Too Good To Go from Wenzel's - this is their hot bag and it cost me £4.75.' He first tried a cheese and onion bake, describing it as 'very onion-y,' before moving on.
Bryce continued: 'Next up, we have another bake but there's actually two of them inside this bag. I don't know what flavours they are so we're just going to have to try them.' Upon taking a bite, he exclaimed: 'Oh come on, that is my favourite flavour - steak bake - and we've got two of them. Third bag, again, we've got two items in here. These look like the Jamaican patties.' Another taste confirmed his suspicions; he was impressed with the flavour but noted the patties were 'a little bit spicy.'
Overwhelmed by the Quantity
As the sheer volume of food became apparent, Bryce was in awe: 'I can't believe how much stuff is in this bag.' He went on to discover another cheese and onion bake, an additional patty, and a vegan sausage roll. Finally, he reached the last bag: 'And finally, the last bag; the bag is heavy though, I think we've got more than one item in here. Yeah, we've got two more items - two more bakes. Please be steak.' He took a bite and added: 'What is that? I've got no idea - we've got two mystery bakes at the end. That's quite a lot of food but I think it's lacking some variety. What do you guys think, was it worth £4.75?'
Social Media Reactions
In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were eager to weigh in. One wrote: 'That was absolutely worth £4.75. I've never been to this shop - the bakes look well filled. Also first time hearing of a cheese and onion bake.... is it savory or tangy? Loving this series.' A second said: 'Bro, that's a lot of food so yeah, yeah it is,' while a third commented: 'She hooked you up' and a fourth simply added: 'Amazing.'
