Waitrose and Disney Launch Nostalgic 80s Food Range for Rivals Season 2
Waitrose Disney 80s Food Range for Rivals Season 2

Waitrose has partnered with Disney+ to launch a nostalgic new food range inspired by the 1980s, just in time for the second season of the Hulu Original series Rivals. The limited-edition collection, hitting shelves on April 27, revives iconic tastes from the decade of decadence, including rhubarb and custard, peach melba, bloody Mary, and prawn cocktail.

The 80s Food Line-Up

The savoury offerings include two indulgent sandwiches that were staples of the 80s buffet. The Scotch Egg Sandwich (£4) features egg mayonnaise with crumbled Scotch egg, a sweet hit of chilli jam, and fresh spinach on 8-grain bread. The Thousand Island Prawn Sandwich (£4) boasts plump prawns, tangy thousand island sauce, and gherkins. For an accompaniment, Steak Diane Handcooked Crisps (£1.30) offer a moorish taste of the retro dish made with cognac butter and heavy cream. Alternatively, Bloody Mary Prawn Cocktail crisps provide a spicy kick inspired by the TV show.

For dessert, there is Rhubarb and Custard Dairy Ice Cream (£3.40) and Peach Melba Dairy Ice Cream, described as the 'smooth hero' of the collection. To drink, a Peach Melba Spritz (£2.50) or a Spicy Pineapple Daiquiri (£2.50) are available. Maddy Wilson, director of Own Brand at Waitrose, said: 'The 80s are back with a fresh twist, and we can only apologise we didn't launch these decades ago.'
