Sushi Co opens 40th restaurant in Bromley this weekend

The Sushi Co, a popular London sushi chain, is opening its 40th restaurant on Bromley High Street this weekend. The landmark store, located in the former Maplin electronics shop opposite Sports Direct and TK Maxx, marks a significant expansion for the chain.

Location and opening details

The corner site was selected due to the area's high footfall and the success of nearby restaurants. The opening is timed to coincide with the beginning of half term, aiming to attract local families and shoppers.

The restaurant is known for its live sushi kitchens, where chefs prepare food in front of customers. The menu includes hosomaki, uramaki, nigiri, sashimi, poke bowls and hot dishes such as katsu curries and gyoza.

Jobs and seating capacity

The new Bromley venue has seating for up to 35 diners and will offer takeaway and delivery services. Its opening has created 20 kitchen and front-of-house jobs, contributing to local employment.

Manager Tanweer Sikandar, who also runs the company's Marylebone branch, said: “We are really excited to be opening here in Bromley. We don’t have a site nearby, so we are looking forward to bringing our ‘minutes fresh’ food to the local community.”

Grand opening celebrations

A grand opening event will be held tomorrow (October 24), featuring 500 free sushi rolls, a taiko drumming performance, balloon artists and a DJ. Celebrations will kick off at 1pm and continue throughout the day.

The restaurant will also offer 50 per cent off takeaways during its opening weekend and 25 per cent off food for the remainder of the year.

Expansion plans and celebrity fans

Bromley is now the chain’s biggest restaurant yet, but the company has no plans to stop there. It hopes to open another four venues by the end of the year, with ambitions to grow to 50 locations during its fifth anniversary year.

The chain has also attracted a number of celebrity fans, including reality TV stars, musicians and broadcaster Nikita Kanda.

Sikandar added: “This is a great site, a very busy location and the store has lots of big windows. With premium furniture and fixtures as well as top-of-the-range fresh food, we are offering Bromley diners and shoppers the ultimate fast dine-in or at-home experience.”
