New French Bakery Authentique Opens in Islington June 2026

A new French bakery is set to open in north London next month, bringing a taste of traditional French baking to Islington. Authentique, which already has two successful branches in Tufnell Park and Finsbury Park, will launch its third London outpost on Upper Street in June.

What to Expect at Authentique Islington

The bakery will be located at 351-352 Upper Street, Islington, featuring a sunny yellow frontage and both indoor and outdoor seating. Customers can enjoy pastries and hot drinks from Conscious Coffee in a setting designed for leisurely visits.

Menu Highlights

Based on the offerings at Authentique's existing locations, the menu will include classic French favourites such as croissants, crusty baguettes, croque monsieurs, jambon-beurre sandwiches, and delicate pastries like flan and chocolate-pistachio brioches. The bakery uses traditional methods and quality ingredients, including Valrhona chocolate and generous amounts of butter.

Grocery Selection

The site was previously a deli, and Authentique will continue that tradition with a range of French groceries, including charcuterie, cheese, jams, honey, and wine. Perfect for picnic supplies or a taste of Paris at home.

Islington already boasts a vibrant bakery scene with spots like British Patagonia, Sourdough Sophia, and Popham's, but Authentique aims to stand out with its authentic French approach. The new bakery is expected to open in June 2026.
