Digestives are a classic British biscuit, and McVitie's has introduced many varieties, including seven different chocolate digestive flavors. But which one is the best? One dedicated enthusiast named Faye took to Instagram to conduct the ultimate taste test, pitting seven distinct varieties against one another to crown the very best.
The Taste Test
Milk Chocolate
Starting with 'the classic' milk chocolate digestives, Faye remarked: "These are definitely my all time favourite biscuit, so I'm a bit biased." She described the salty 'maltiness' of the digestive base complementing perfectly with the silky layer of sweet chocolate coating, declaring it scored 'an easy ten out of ten'.
Pink Raspberry and Cream
Next, she sampled the Pink Raspberry and Cream digestives. "I'm shocked," she commented. She likened the taste to Party Rings but asserted they were 'even better' because of the digestive base. This earned a seven out of ten.
Dark Chocolate
For the dark chocolate variety, Faye said: "The chocolate itself is a really nice taste." However, she added: "For me, the classic milk will always win, but that's delicious. I'll give that an eight out of ten."
Digestive Gold
Regarding Digestives Gold, marketed with a 'golden caramel flavour', Faye found it disappointing, declaring it 'didn't taste of anything'. "Maybe it's like a really subtle white chocolate, but no caramel flavour," she remarked, giving it a two out of ten.
Seriously Chocolatey
The Seriously Chocolatey variety, 'triple chocolate' flavored with chocolate chips and a chocolate covering, had 'more of a cookie taste'. Faye gave it a seven out of ten.
White Chocolate
White chocolate digestives reminded Faye of the Golden ones but sweeter. "It's not for me," she said, awarding a four out of ten.
Milk Chocolate and Caramel
Finally, milk chocolate and caramel digestives featured a caramel layer between biscuit and chocolate. Faye exclaimed 'wow' and noted the caramel layer was 'nice and thin'. She gave it seven out of ten.
Final Ranking
In summary, Faye ranked the Digestive Gold in last place, followed by white chocolate. Caramel, seriously chocolatey, and pink digestives shared joint third. Second place went to dark chocolate, while the unrivalled milk chocolate digestives claimed the top spot.
