Welcome back to The Slice – your exclusive guide to London’s hottest events, trusted reviews, and amazing deals. This Bank Holiday weekend aligns perfectly with Cinco de Mayo, offering a perfect excuse to party. Dance to bachata, sip tequila, and eat tacos to your heart’s content. We also spotlight Napoli on the Road’s new Soho spot, a sweet pop-up for The Devil Wears Prada 2, free matcha by JENKI, and chic new openings. Here’s your May must-do list.

1. Napoli on the Road Arrives in Soho

After winning top prize at the 50 Top Pizza Awards in 2024, Napoli on the Road has opened its third location in Soho. Unlike its cozy Chiswick and Richmond siblings, this sleek, modern venue fits the trendy central London vibe. The food remains fantastic, with exclusive items like the Triple Crunch pizza (steamed, fried, baked, topped with tomato, fior di latte, Calabrian salame, chilli jam, and parsley) and Cime e Salsiccia (a pizza sandwich with darker flour, cime di rapa cream, smoked mozzarella, sausage burger, and nori seaweed powder). Don’t miss the Gateau di Patate – layers of crispy and mashed potatoes with rosemary raclette and grated cheese. The star is Ricordi d’Infanzia: a classic Neapolitan base with slow-cooked beef ragu, Parmigiano Reggiano fondue, and fresh basil. Pizza from £13.50. Locations: Soho, Chiswick, Richmond. Book here.

2. Cafe Murano: Rome in Marylebone

Step into Cafe Murano in Marylebone and feel transported to Rome. Start with rosemary focaccia and Fertuna olive oil, then enjoy garlicky pea and scamorza arancini. Tortellini with Westcombe ricotta and spring beans in sage butter is a highlight, alongside potato gnocchi with mint, Tagiasca olives, and braised lamb neck. Finish with creamy tiramisu or sharp raspberry sorbet. Cicchetti from £5, antipasti from £15, primi from £14, secondi from £26, contorni from £6.50. Locations: Marylebone, Bermondsey, St James’s, Covent Garden. Book here.

3. The Light Bar: Pub Grub with Style

Recently reopened in Shoreditch, The Light Bar blends restaurant, bar, and club vibes in a Victorian power station. The dry-aged beef burger with Applewood smoked cheddar is phenomenal. Head chef Jake Ayliffe’s menu fuses Asian, British, and Greek flavors: BBQ chicken thigh skewer with chilli honey glaze, wood-fired flatbread with tzatziki, and more. Nighttime brings DJ nights; this Sunday features producer trio Phone Traxxx. Bar bites from £6, dips £5, plates from £12. 233 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6PJ. Book here.

4. Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

Ixchel: Live Latin trio, agave tasting flight (mini spicy peach margarita, mezcal horchata, cucumber jalapeño margarita, £9), and short rib mole. Small plates from £5, larger plates from £27. 5 May. Madera at Treehouse London: Unlimited tacos for £38, with DJ sets and skyline views. Marylebone. Crust Bros x Cavita: Birria pizza with gravy base, birria meat, smoked mozzarella, parmesan, and avocado salsa. £17.20 at Covent Garden and Waterloo from 28 April.

5. Sonora Taquería at The Hoxton
