London Restaurants Shine at Prestigious AA Rosette Awards Ceremony

Four exceptional London restaurants have been officially recognized among the United Kingdom's finest dining establishments at the prestigious AA Rosette Awards. First established in 1956, this distinguished ceremony celebrates culinary quality and excellence through a comprehensive rating system ranging from one to five rosettes.

Three Rosette Status Achieved by Elite London Establishments

Esteemed dining destinations in London's Fitzrovia and Mayfair districts have achieved the coveted three Rosette status, an accomplishment widely considered equivalent to earning one Michelin star. This prestigious recognition places these restaurants among Britain's most outstanding culinary venues.

Bonheur by Matt Abé, located in the former home of the legendary restaurant Le Gavroche on Upper Brook Street, has earned this distinction. AA inspectors praised this fine-dining establishment as a "celebration of seasonality, community and craft" that maintains a classic French style "put together in perfect harmony." With tasting menus titled 'Journey' and 'Dream,' dining experiences here range from approximately £165 to £225 per person.

Innovative Dining Experiences Across London

Nearby, 74 Charlotte Street has received acclaim for its "comforting and exciting" dishes. Headed by Brent Cross-born chef Ben Murphy, this dining destination "celebrates food people love to eat – refined yet full of warmth and character," according to AA inspectors. The restaurant offers an accessible set menu at £35 for two courses and £39 for three courses during weekday lunchtimes and early weekend evenings.

The Cocochine, located just off Berkeley Square in central London, presents another award-winning experience. AA inspectors noted that "whether you choose the kitchen counter seats on the first floor or the elegant ground-floor dining room, ingredients are all top drawer and intriguing Sri Lankan notes reflect chef Larry Jayasekera’s heritage," describing the food as "refined and modern." While the signature dinner costs £189 per diner, this upmarket establishment offers a remarkably affordable two-course lunch menu for less than £30.

Celebrated Chef's London Debut

Michael Caines' restaurant within the five-star Stafford Hotel completes London's trio of new three Rosette recipients. The celebrated West Country chef's first London venture features several signature dishes imported from his flagship Lympstone Manor. AA inspectors specifically recommend trying the Newlyn red mullet tartlet with brown crab custard, cucumber and seaweed relish, followed by the beef served with celeriac purée, king oyster mushroom, braised beef cheek, and red wine sauce.

National Recognition Beyond London

Beyond the capital, two restaurants across the United Kingdom earned the even more exclusive four AA Rosette status. Home by James Sommerin in Wales received recognition for its "welcoming space," while Sorrel in Surrey earned praise for its technical skills and "first-class" presentation.

Simon Numphud, managing director at AA Media, commented: "Our Spring update and the latest set of award recipients once again highlights the strength of the British culinary scene. The talent, skill and commitment to quality we've seen this year in the backdrop of a challenging environment is incredibly inspiring."
