Bleecker Burger in London has been crowned the World's Best Burger Place by the organisers of the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants. The ranking judged meat quality, composition, atmosphere, authenticity, consistency, cleanliness, guest experience, sustainability, service quality, and online presence. To see if the title held up, I visited the London Bridge location on a Monday evening at 9:30pm.
First Impressions and Atmosphere
Surprisingly, the restaurant was not crowded at 9:30pm, but footfall picked up after 10pm, attracting a Gen Z and Millennial crowd fresh from padel, pickleball, or Hyrox sessions. The interior features all-encompassing white tiles, reminiscent of an old-timey public bathroom. The vibe is fast-casual—less fancy than Honest Burgers but more decadent than Five Guys.
The Menu and Pricing
I ordered a Cheeseburger (£10.50), a Blue Burger (£11.60), a Bacon Cheeseburger (£11.50), Angry Fries (£5.50), a Double Chocolate Milkshake (£5.95), and a pint of L&G Extra Nice (£6.95). The burgers looked small initially, but the dry-aged beef patty was juicy and soft as silk. Cooked medium as requested, it may have been the best beef patty I've ever eaten.
Taste and Simplicity
The burgers are bare bones: beef patty, secret sauce, slivers of onions, and bright orange melted cheese for the Cheeseburger; added bacon for the Bacon Cheeseburger; and lettuce and blue cheese for the Blue Burger. The sesame buns were the softest I've ever had, but perhaps a little too soft. The blue cheese was mellow and not overpowering. The bacon was thin, crispy, and not too salty. The taste was 10/10, though I wished for larger portions.
Drinks and Overall Experience
The Double Chocolate Milkshake was thick and flavourful but not as good as Five Guys' shakes. The beer was cool and crisp. Surprisingly, my husband and I did not feel overstuffed after the meal, unlike after Five Guys or Honest Burgers. The one thing that left me gobsmacked: for the first time, a burger and fries meal didn't feel unhealthy. My hands and mouth weren't greasy.
Verdict
Is Bleecker Burger the World's Best Burger Place? Those are big boots to fill, but its unmatched beef patties came fairly close to perfection. If you prefer fully loaded burgers with many toppings, Bleecker may not be for you.
