The 2026 Michelin Guide has delivered a spectacular triumph for culinary legend Gordon Ramsay, who emerged as the undisputed star of this year's prestigious awards. In a remarkable achievement that cements his status as one of Britain's greatest chefs, Ramsay has maintained his coveted three-star rating at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for an unprecedented 25th consecutive year. This extraordinary milestone represents a quarter-century of culinary excellence at the highest level.
Ramsay's Expanding City Empire
Beyond this historic achievement, Ramsay's success story continued with Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High, his sky-high fine dining establishment at 22 Bishopsgate, earning its first Michelin star. This recognition further solidifies Ramsay's growing presence in London's Square Mile, where he has been strategically expanding his restaurant portfolio. The building already houses an outpost of his popular pan-Asian concept Lucky Cat, with plans for a Bread Street Kitchen & Bar to open later this year.
Former Protégé Celebrates Redemption
Ramsay's former protégé Jason Atherton enjoyed his own moment of celebration, earning a second Michelin star for his Row on 5 restaurant. This achievement marks a significant comeback for Atherton, whose iconic Tower 42 restaurant City Social lost its star in last year's guide. Row on 5 has now become the flagship of Atherton's empire following the closure of Pollen Street Social. During his acceptance speech, Atherton publicly thanked his former mentor while acknowledging the challenging economic climate facing hospitality businesses.
Newcomers and Returning Favourites
The 2026 guide brought good news for several other London establishments. Mayfair's Bonheur by Matt Abe achieved an impressive second star just months after opening in autumn last year, while City AM favourite Legardo earned its first Michelin star. Head chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho explained their vision: "We wanted to offer a little bit of Spain in Shoreditch."
Tom Brown received welcome recognition after a difficult period, earning a star for Tom Brown at the Capital in Knightsbridge. This achievement follows the closure of his Cornerstone and Pearly Queen restaurants in recent years.
Additional London Success Stories
The 2026 Michelin Guide recognised several other London restaurants with their first stars, including:
- Ambassadors Clubhouse
- Somssi
- Labome by Trivet
- Michael Caines at the Stafford
- Corenucopia by Care Smyth
- The Kerfield Arms
This year's guide demonstrates London's continued strength as a global culinary destination, with established legends and exciting newcomers receiving recognition for their exceptional contributions to the city's vibrant dining scene.
