Cadbury's Mega Mini Egg: A Giant Chocolate Creation for Easter
Cadbury has launched an enormous chocolate egg for Easter 2026, known as the Mega Mini Egg, which weighs a staggering 55 kilograms. This colossal treat is now on display at Cadbury World in Birmingham, where it will remain until April 12, offering visitors a unique spectacle.
The Details Behind the Giant Egg
The Mega Mini Egg stands approximately 70 centimeters tall and replicates the iconic pastel pink sugar-coated shell and subtle speckles of the classic Mini Eggs. Created by Cadbury's in-house chocolatiers Claire Fielding, Dawn Jenks, and Donna Pitt, the project took two full days to complete. For perspective, the egg's weight is comparable to that of an adult cheetah, a large Western grey kangaroo, or a giant armadillo, and it equals the chocolate content of 743 standard bags of Mini Eggs.
Unfortunately, this giant egg is not available for purchase or consumption; it serves solely as a display piece. This decision might disappoint chocolate enthusiasts, but it highlights Cadbury's commitment to creating memorable Easter experiences. The inspiration for the Mega Mini Egg came from the positive reception of last year's giant Creme Egg, which weighed about 45 kilograms and was likened in height to an emperor penguin.
Visiting Cadbury World
To see the Mega Mini Egg in person, visitors must purchase tickets to Cadbury World. Pre-booking is essential, with standard tickets priced at £19 each. For a family of four, the cost starts at £68, making it a pricier outing compared to buying a regular bag of Mini Eggs. Despite the expense, the attraction offers a chance to witness this chocolate masterpiece up close.
Best Edible Mini Eggs Alternatives
If the talk of giant eggs has sparked a craving, there are plenty of edible options available in supermarkets. According to recent taste tests, Marks & Spencer's Speckled Eggs are rated the best, coming in at 25p cheaper than Cadbury's Mini Eggs. Cadbury's version placed a close second, praised for its superior taste and appearance, while Lidl's Mister Choc Mini Eggs ranked third, noted for being overly sweet and slightly artificial. Other contenders include Poppets Poppeggs in fourth place and Morrisons' The Crackin' Up Mini Chocolate Speckled Eggs in fifth.
Claire Fielding, one of the chocolatiers behind the Mega Mini Egg, expressed enthusiasm for the project: 'After the amazing reaction to last year's gigantic Cadbury Creme Egg, we knew we had to craft something just as fantastic for 2026. Cadbury Mini Eggs are another absolute favourite and a British Easter staple, so creating the Mega Mini Egg felt like the perfect next challenge. We took that instantly recognisable shell and chocolate centre and scaled it up into a real showstopper.'
Whether you visit Cadbury World or opt for a supermarket treat, this Easter season offers plenty of chocolate indulgence. For more updates on food trends and events, stay tuned to our coverage.
