Sali Hughes, writing from sunny Corfu, reviews the best face mists and handheld fans to help you stay cool during a heatwave. Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool personal fan (£99.99) temporarily sold out but has been restocked, while Shark's ChillPill 3-in-1 Fan, Mist & InstaChill System (£129.99) has been generating buzz on social media.
Shark ChillPill: A mixed review
Hughes tested the Shark ChillPill, noting it is sold out in prettier colours but works well. However, she found it fiddly to switch between heads. The cool plate, which instantly cools skin on contact, is simple and effective. The fan is good but too noisy for use on a crowded train. The mister, which dispenses a cooling lotion, is pleasant but feels overengineered compared to simple face mists. Hughes predicts she will lose the attachments by autumn.
JisuLife Ultra1: The top fan pick
For festivals, holidays, and crowded trains, Hughes recommends the JisuLife Ultra1 Handheld Fan (£65.46), calling it the greatest personal fan she has ever used. It works with her iPhone charger, a key advantage.
Dr Althea's 345 Relief Cream Mist: The perfect mist
Hughes praises Dr Althea's 345 Relief Cream Mist (£15.90) as a perfect mist. The spray component, which she says accounts for 50% of a mist's success, is ideal, dispensing a superfine monsoon of hydrating hyaluronic acid and soothing ingredients like aloe, rice, panthenol, and centella. It does not disrupt makeup and, combined with a fan, instantly cools the face. It suits all skin types, especially dehydrated skin.
Other recommended mists
For very dry skin, Hughes recommends Laneige Cream Skin Cerapeptide Mist (£10.50), which has the consistency of coconut water and leaves a moisturising layer. She also highlights Fenty Beauty's Dew N Plump Hydrating Nectar Face Mist (£29), noting the aluminium can keeps the polyglutamic acid liquid cool and leaves skin looking juicy.
