Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash Remain Legally Unmarried Four Years After Intimate Wedding
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are still not legally married, four years after their intimate wedding ceremony at their family home in Essex. The couple, who met through the I'm A Celebrity reality show, tied the knot at their £1,200,000 property, Pickle Cottage, in July 2022. However, technicalities surrounding their decision to marry at home have prevented them from registering their marriage legally.
Technicalities and Busy Schedules Delay Legal Registration
Former X Factor star Stacey Solomon, 36, explained that to legally marry at a private residence, the property must hold a civil ceremony licence, which requires the premises to be made readily available for ceremonies. As Pickle Cottage is their private family home, they opted against this option. Instead, they held a relaxed private blessing with close friends and family, planning to register the marriage afterward. However, due to their hectic schedules and family life, they have not yet completed the legal process.
Stacey previously addressed this issue, stating, 'To get married anywhere legally, the place has to have a civil ceremony licence. As this is our private family home and we need it to remain that way we couldn't go for that option. So we are having a relaxed private blessing... and we will register our marriage legally after.' Metro reports that the couple have not intentionally misled fans about their marital status.
Family Life and Career Demands
Since the wedding, Stacey and Joe have been busy with their family, which includes children Rex, six, Rose, four, Belle, three, Zachary, 18, Leighton, 13, and Harry, whom Joe had with an ex-partner in 2007. Their family life is showcased in the BBC reality series Stacey & Joe. Additionally, Stacey has been involved in lucrative ranges with Asda and Primark, keeping her schedule packed.
The couple's relationship began after Stacey was crowned queen of the jungle on I'm A Celebrity in 2010, while Joe, who won the show in 2018, was hosting the ITV2 spin-off. They became friends initially, with romance blossoming later. Joe proposed on Christmas Eve 2020, and Stacey expressed her joy at the time. Their 2022 wedding featured a traditional Jewish ceremony in a marquee at Pickle Cottage, with Towie's James Argent performing for guests.
Addressing Rumors and Public Scrutiny
Recently, Stacey appeared on ITV's This Morning, where she addressed rumors about her marriage after being seen without her wedding ring. Host Ben Shephard asked about the speculation, to which Stacey replied, 'What are they? Go on. There's a new rumour each week! I am terrible. I don't read any of that stuff. But yeah, we just... Have I not been wearing my ring? Probably took it off to go to the toilet, or something.' This highlights the ongoing public interest in their relationship status.
The Sun has reported that their decision not to register the marriage has raised eyebrows with TV executives, adding to the media attention. Despite this, the couple continues to focus on their family and careers, with no immediate plans disclosed for completing the legal marriage registration.
