Ariana Grande's Wicked Premiere Ambush: Attacker Deported from Singapore
Man who ambushed Ariana Grande at premiere deported

The man who caused a security scare by ambushing pop superstar Ariana Grande on the yellow carpet at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore has been deported.

Australian national Johnson Wen, 26, was sent back to his home country on November 23, 2025, following a short jail sentence for his actions at the high-profile event earlier this month.

The Shocking Yellow Carpet Incident

The alarming moment unfolded as Grande, alongside her co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh, walked arm-in-arm through a controlled fan area at the premiere. Barricades were in place on both sides of the carpet when the security breach occurred.

Grande had just finished greeting a fan to her right when Wen leapt over the barrier and ran directly at the singer. Video footage from the event shows him tackling Grande in what appeared to be a cross between a hug and a headlock.

In a display of quick-thinking and loyalty, Cynthia Erivo immediately intervened. The Grammy-winning actress and singer threw her body between Grande and the intruder, physically pulling him away while yelling for him to ‘get off’ as security personnel rushed to the scene.

Michelle Yeoh was also captured on video turning toward Grande in a panic as the security team roughly removed the young man from the area.

Legal Consequences and Deportation

Wen was later identified and pleaded guilty to one charge of being a public nuisance. According to The Straits Times, he was sentenced to nine days in jail for his actions.

During sentencing, District Judge Christopher Goh told Wen that his behaviour was ‘attention-seeking’ and that he was wrong to assume he would not face consequences.

Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) confirmed the deportation. An ICA spokesperson told Singaporean news network CNA: ‘Johnson Wen was deported to Australia on Nov 23, 2025, and has been barred from re-entering Singapore.’

The court heard that Wen had arrived in Singapore on November 11 on a social visit pass, ostensibly for a holiday and to attend the premiere.

A Pattern of Disruptive Behaviour

This was not the first time Johnson Wen, who is known online as ‘Pyjama Man’, has pulled such a stunt. His social media history reveals a pattern of similar behaviour at celebrity events.

His Instagram feed includes clips of him jumping on stage at Katy Perry’s Sydney concert in June 2025 and doing the same at a concert by The Chainsmokers in December 2024.

Following the Wicked premiere incident, Wen identified himself on social media, sharing his own footage of the moment on TikTok and Instagram with the caption: ‘Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.’

On November 13, he posted to his Instagram Story, writing ‘I am free after being arrested,’ which confirmed his involvement in the incident. His posts were met with thousands of comments condemning his actions.

Despite the frightening disruption, the premiere proceeded as planned, and all three actresses continued their promotional appearances for the film. Grande was visibly shaken but quickly regained her composure, continuing down the carpet with Erivo keeping a steadying arm around her.

The viral moment sparked widespread praise for Erivo's protective response on social media, with many users noting that she reacted faster than the security team to protect her friend and co-star.
