South Korean actress and Netflix star Nana has been rushed to hospital following a violent home invasion by an armed robber at her property in Seoul. The terrifying incident occurred early on Saturday morning, leaving both the celebrity and her mother with injuries requiring medical treatment.
The Terrifying Early Morning Attack
The 34-year-old star, whose real name is Im Jin-ah, was at home with her mother when a man in his 30s forced his way into their suburban Seoul residence at approximately 6am on Saturday morning. According to reports from the Yonhap news agency, the intruder was armed with a weapon and threatened both women while demanding money.
During the frightening confrontation, Nana's mother reportedly lost consciousness due to the severity of the situation. The K-pop star herself sustained physical injuries while attempting to escape the dangerous circumstances created by the armed robber.
Brave Struggle and Police Response
Despite the traumatic nature of the invasion, both Nana and her mother demonstrated remarkable courage by managing to subdue the intruder until police officers arrived at the scene. Their agency, Sublime, provided details to Korean outlet Maeil Kyungjae about the severity of the situation.
'Early this morning, a robber armed with a weapon broke into Nana's residence,' the agency statement revealed. 'The robber entered the home with the weapon, creating a very dangerous situation where both Nana and her mother could have suffered serious harm.'
The statement continued to explain the extent of injuries suffered during the assault: 'Due to the robber's physical assault, Nana's mother suffered serious injuries that left her unconscious, and Nana also suffered physical injuries while trying to escape the crisis. Both of them currently require treatment and absolute rest.'
Aftermath and Career Context
Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been detained on charges of aggravated robbery, with a detective from the AFP news agency verifying the arrest. Medical attention was required for all parties involved - including Nana, her mother, and surprisingly, the intruder himself.
Nana first rose to fame in 2009 as a member of the popular K-pop girl group After School. She later formed the subunit Orange Caramel with two other performers, which remained active from 2010 until 2016. The multi-talented star transitioned to acting in 2014, appearing in numerous South Korean television series including The Good Wife, Kill It, and Justice.
More recently, international audiences have recognised her from the Netflix series Glitch, which premiered in October 2022. The actress also marked a musical milestone this year, releasing her first solo album in September.
As of now, Nana has not made any public statements regarding the traumatic home invasion, with her agency handling all communications about the incident while she and her mother focus on recovery.
