Hollyoaks Confirms Major Frankie and Charlie Twist That Turns Everything On Its Head
Published April 20, 2026 7:30am
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday's (April 20) episode, which is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode will air on E4 at 7pm.
A Drastic Decision to Secure the Future
Charlie Dean, portrayed by Charlie Behan, has taken extreme measures to safeguard both his own future and that of his sister Frankie Osborne, played by Isabelle Smith. In a bold move, he has lied to the police about who was truly responsible for the catastrophic car crash that occurred the previous week.
As viewers are aware, Charlie was behind the wheel during dramatic scenes, driving Frankie to the train station when tragedy struck. Frankie, ready for a fresh start in London, discovered en route that she had left her ballet shoes behind and urged her brother to turn back. This decision led to them getting stuck behind a removal van driven by Jonah, portrayed by Matthew Wolfenden, who was moving with his partner Beth, played by Rebecca Ryan, and their son Caleb, portrayed by Lewis Walton, to the village.
The Chain of Events Leading to Disaster
Charlie initially refused to overtake the van, but Frankie insisted, beeping the horn repeatedly. This frustrated Jonah, who refused to pull over on principle. Fearing Frankie would miss her train, Charlie decided to overtake, resulting in him clipping the vehicle in front.
His car tipped on its side and flew into nearby trees, while Jonah struggled to maintain control of the van, which collided with roadside workings. Caleb was sent flying through the windscreen and rushed to hospital with a spinal injury. Charlie, Frankie, and Vicky Grant, played by Anya Lawrence, were found the following day by Leela, portrayed by Kirsty-Leigh Porter, and Dodger Savage, played by Danny Mac.
Confessions and Consequences
Charlie admitted in front of Beth, his kind-of aunt, that he was responsible for the crash. Beth was adamant that she would ensure he paid for his actions. Jack, portrayed by Jimmy McKenna, was confident Charlie would take responsibility.
Meanwhile, Frankie woke up in hospital, devastated to learn she would require six months or more to heal from her injury, temporarily putting her dreams of dance school on hold. Charlie visited Vicky, who needs surgery, and then paid his sister a visit. Frankie apologized for urging him to overtake the van, but Charlie reiterated that he shouldn't have attempted it regardless.
A Brother's Sacrifice and a Sister's Plan
Refusing to let his sibling get into trouble given her future plans, Charlie insisted on taking full responsibility. However, Frankie, not wanting to lose her brother, had another idea entirely.
The Shocking Twist at the Police Station
In subsequent scenes, Charlie was seen at the police station, where he claimed that Jonah was driving recklessly, pinning the blame for the crash on the Keanes instead. This dramatic lie changes everything, raising urgent questions: Will the truth come out? How will Beth react when she learns the news? And what will this mean for Jonah?
