Game Awards 2025 Leaks: What's In & Out

The Game Awards 2025: The Leaks Have Begun

The gaming world is buzzing as the first major leaks for The Game Awards 2025 have started to surface. With the event positioned as the industry's most prestigious night, the rumours swirling around potential game reveals often generate as much excitement as the awards themselves. This year's ceremony is scheduled for December 11 in Los Angeles, which translates to the early hours of Friday, December 12 for UK viewers.

What's Officially Confirmed for the Show?

At this stage, only one title has been officially confirmed for a showcase. The sci-fi role-playing game Exodus is set to premiere a new trailer. The game was first unveiled at The Game Awards back in 2023 with the help of Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey, who provides a voice for the project. While initial screenshots may have appeared generic, the development team inspires confidence. The studio, Archetype Entertainment, is led by BioWare veterans who worked on legendary titles, leading many to hope that Exodus could become a spiritual successor to the beloved Mass Effect series.

The Rumour Mill: Control 2 and Silent Hill Remake

The list of rumoured appearances is where the real speculation begins. Based on Ubisoft's upcoming release schedule, a showing for the Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time remake seems highly probable, given its anticipated January launch. Similarly, the long-rumoured remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, reportedly slated for a March release, could finally get an official announcement.

One of the most compelling leaks points to the sequel to Control. A recent trademark for the name 'Control Resonant' was filed by a legal representative associated with the game's developer, Remedy. It is unclear if this relates directly to Control 2, which entered full production in February, or to other expanded universe content. Nevertheless, a reveal at the show seems a strong possibility.

Another tantalising rumour, originating from a Peruvian outlet citing a Japanese insider, suggests we might see a trailer for the Silent Hill 1 remake. However, with developer Bloober Team only confirming the project's existence in June, any appearance would likely be a brief, pre-rendered teaser rather than a full gameplay demonstration.

A more credible leak involves Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. A since-removed listing on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) website outed a PC version of the game. Given the close relationship between show host Geoff Keighley and director Hideo Kojima, and the fact the first game launched on PC, an announcement for the PC port at The Game Awards appears almost inevitable.

What Definitely Won't Be There?

Amidst the speculation, some studios have been quick to manage expectations. CD Projekt has officially ruled out any presence for The Witcher 4. Despite its nomination for Most Anticipated Game, the company's co-CEO confirmed they will not be bringing any new content to the show this year.

Furthermore, reputable industry insiders have claimed that Naughty Dog's next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, will also be absent. A trailer for the sci-fi adventure debuted at last year's event, but it seems fans will have to wait longer for a new look.

As the countdown to December 11 continues, the blend of confirmed news and compelling rumours sets the stage for another blockbuster evening for gamers across the UK and beyond.
