Former I'm A Celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher has offered some unconventional advice to this year's female contestants, including model and actress Kelly Brook, suggesting they should consider showering naked in the jungle for better privacy from cameras.
The Unconventional Privacy Strategy
Giovanna Fletcher, who was crowned Queen of the Castle in the 2020 edition of the show that took place in Wales due to Covid-19 restrictions, revealed her surprising tip during an interview with The Sun. The author and podcaster explained that cameras typically turn away from naked contestants during shower scenes, providing an unexpected method for maintaining privacy.
"Because our year was in Wales it was very, very different," Fletcher recalled. "They would turn the cameras away sometimes. A lot of women knew quite early on that if they showered nude they would pan away."
She emphasised that this remains her top tip for female contestants, stating: "They won't show it. So the biggest tip is shower naked, they can't use it anyway."
A Critique of Bikini-Focused Coverage
Fletcher expressed disappointment that in 2025, the show's coverage still focuses on sensationalised bikini shots rather than the actual challenges and experiences of the contestants. "I feel a bit of shame in that. It's 2025 - why are we doing bikini shots and making it about that?" she questioned.
The former winner made it clear that she believes women shouldn't have to worry about their appearance while showering in the jungle environment. "That's not what I'm A Celebrity is about. I just think it's a shame that that's where we are. A woman should be able to go in there and not think, 'Oh my gosh, what am I going to look like in the shower?'"
Fletcher also noted that male contestants likely don't face the same concerns about their shower scenes being broadcast, highlighting what she perceives as a gender disparity in the show's coverage.
Kelly Brook's Alternative Preparation
Meanwhile, current contestant Kelly Brook revealed she received different advice from former I'm A Celebrity participant Myleene Klass. Speaking to The Sun before entering the jungle, Brook explained that Klass warned her about appropriate swimwear for television.
"Myleene did talk to me about the shower," Brook shared. "She said when she arrived, she didn't actually have a swimsuit that was appropriate for TV. I think it was strobing or something. So, she actually had to run out and get something when she was [in Australia]."
Rather than considering the naked shower approach, Brook took a more conventional preparation route. "I made sure that I packed plenty of swimsuits so we had loads of options," she confirmed.
The discussion around shower privacy in I'm A Celebrity isn't new, with cameras known to be positioned around jungle shower areas for years, often resulting in images appearing in newspapers shortly after filming.
As the current series continues on ITV, viewers will be watching to see how the privacy dynamics unfold in the jungle camp, with Fletcher's unconventional advice potentially influencing how female contestants approach their daily routines.
