London's iconic South Bank has once again been transformed into a dazzling winter spectacle as the Winter Light trail returns for the 2025 festive season.
A Glittering Thames-Side Experience
From November 12, 2025, until January 18, 2026, visitors can explore this free outdoor exhibition without booking. The installation turns the banks of the River Thames into an illuminated wonderland, featuring captivating light artworks and sculptures.
This year's highlights include a vibrant neon display by France-Lise McGurn that pays homage to 1990s fashion advertising. Outside The Royal Festival Hall, a stunning chandelier-like sculpture by Lee Broom creates a mesmerising spectacle, putting on a special light show every hour, perfectly timed with Big Ben's chimes.
Festive Warmth and Entertainment
When the winter chill sets in, visitors can warm up at the outdoor Christmas market offering steaming mugs of glühwein, sizzling bratwursts and artisan treats. For those seeking indoor entertainment, the Southbank Centre presents the tap-dancing extravaganza Top Hat, while the Haywood Gallery offers exhibition spaces.
Planning Your Visit
The Winter Light trail provides the perfect setting for romantic evening strolls, family outings or simply getting into the Christmas spirit.
