Regent Street Goes Car-Free for Festive Family Fun on Dec 6
Regent Street Pedestrianised for Christmas Event

One of London's most famous shopping destinations is set to become a pedestrian paradise for a special festive event. Regent Street will be completely closed to traffic on Saturday, December 6, marking its first major pedestrianisation since 2020.

A Festive Transformation

The transformation will see the iconic thoroughfare between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus become a traffic-free zone for seven hours, from 2pm until 9pm. This creates a safe and spacious environment for visitors to enjoy the world-renowned Christmas lights and a host of unique festive attractions without the usual bustle of buses and cars.

Central to the celebrations will be three specially converted, vintage red London buses parked along the Regent Street Festive Mile. Each bus offers a distinct and memorable experience designed to delight the entire family.

Unique Festive Experiences on Vintage Buses

The first bus, dubbed 'The Spirit of Christmas Selfie Station', allows visitors to capture the perfect holiday photo. Guests can ascend to the top deck to take an elevated selfie with the street's spectacular 'Spirit of Christmas' light display as a stunning backdrop. The bus is also equipped with a platform to ensure the experience is accessible to all.

For those looking to dance, the 'Choose Love Disco Bus' will be pumping out festive tunes. Hosted by the charity Choose Love, which supports refugees and displaced people, this mobile dance floor will feature live music from choirs and DJs spreading Christmas cheer beneath the sparkling lights.

The third bus is the 'Gift Wrap Station and Festive Crafts Bus'. Here, creative visitors can design their own wreaths and other Christmas decorations. Furthermore, the bus offers a free gift-wrapping service for anyone who presents a receipt from a Regent Street or St James's store, ensuring your presents look as good as the thought behind them.

Street Entertainment and Culinary Delights

As visitors stroll along the pedestrianised street, they will be entertained by a colourful cast of characters. Expect to see stilt walkers, juggling jesters, funny festive butlers, and even the famous Hamleys' elves bringing the scene to life.

To keep energy levels high, a variety of delicious hot drinks and snacks will be available, including steaming hot chocolate, sweet fudge, and non-alcoholic mulled wine. For those seeking a more substantial meal, the nearby Heddon Street and Swallow Street offer a range of dining options from restaurants such as Fonda, Casa do Frango, Sabor, Piccolino, Bentley's, and Gaucho.

Shoppers also have a unique opportunity at 'The Ultimate Charity Shop', a pop-up celebrating its 10-year anniversary. It will sell Choose Love merchandise and luxury fashion and beauty items donated by leading brands, all at significant discounts, with proceeds funding essential supplies for refugees. The pop-up will also offer free gift wrapping on December 11, 14, and 20.
