Regent Street Goes Car-Free for Festive Celebration on 6 December
Regent Street car-free festive day on 6 December

This December, London's iconic Regent Street will undergo a magical transformation, banning all traffic for a full day of festive celebrations. The event, scheduled for Saturday 6 December, marks the first time the street has been fully pedestrianised during the Christmas season since 2020.

A Festive Mile of Activities

From 2pm to 9pm, the entire stretch from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus will be free from cars, creating a spacious winter wonderland for visitors. The centrepiece of the celebration will be three vintage red London buses, each offering a unique family-friendly experience.

One bus will become the Spirit of Christmas Selfie Station, where guests can head to the top deck to capture the perfect holiday photo with the street's famous angel lights as a backdrop, with accessibility options available for all. For those seeking festive sounds, the Choose Love Disco Bus will feature live DJs and choir performances throughout the afternoon and evening.

The third bus, dedicated to crafts, will host wreath-making workshops, children's craft sessions, and a complimentary gift-wrapping service for anyone presenting a receipt from a Regent Street or St James's store.

Street Entertainment and Exclusive Offers

The fun won't be confined to the buses. Roving performers, including stilt walkers and Hamleys' elves, will mingle with the crowds. Stalls will line the street, serving seasonal treats like hot chocolate, fudge, and non-alcoholic mulled wine.

Shops across the Regent Street and St James's district are joining in with exclusive in-store experiences. Highlights include:

  • Mulled wine and oysters at Bentley's
  • Spin-to-win prizes at NEOM
  • In-store DJs at Marc Jacobs
  • Hospitality treats at 66°North and Ziggy Green

Adding a charitable element, the Choose Love Shop returns for its 10th anniversary, selling donated gifts and designer fashion at discounted prices to raise money for refugees. Free gift wrapping will also be available on select dates.
