Macy's 99th Thanksgiving Day Parade Dazzles New York With Spectacle
Macy's 99th Thanksgiving Parade Lights Up Manhattan

The heart of Manhattan was transformed into a vibrant river of colour and music this Thursday as the 99th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade marched triumphantly through its streets. This beloved tradition, one of the largest parades in the world, officially heralded the arrival of Santa Claus and the festive holiday season, drawing enormous crowds despite the late November chill.

A Spectacular Procession of Characters and Music

The scale of this year's event was truly breathtaking. The procession featured a magnificent array of 32 balloons, three giant balloons, 27 floats, and four special units. Adding to the lively atmosphere were 33 clown groups, 11 marching bands, and a host of performance groups and music stars who entertained the spectators from start to finish.

Iconic characters filled the sky above New York's famous avenues. Spectators gazed up in wonder as Spiderman floated near the Radio City Music Hall, while the flying Pillsbury Doughboy was framed by the city's iconic skyscrapers. Other beloved figures making an appearance included the Disney Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, and the Gabby & Pandy Paws balloons, each drawing cheers from the crowds below.

Celebrity Performances and Festive Floats

The parade route was also a stage for musical talent. Singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson waved from a float, while Busta Rhymes delivered a powerful performance that energised the audience. Ciara, radiant in pink, and Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen, who made a striking entrance on horseback, were also among the famous faces enjoying the celebration.

The floats themselves were marvels of design, with the Tom Turkey float making its way down Central Park West amidst a blizzard of confetti. Children were delighted to see Marshall from Paw Patrol being carried through the Upper West Side, and the Mario balloon floated cheerfully down Sixth Avenue.

A Uniquely American Tradition Continues

From the Rockettes posing in front of Radio City Music Hall to the Big Bird and chums waving to the crowds, the parade was a seamless blend of nostalgia and contemporary entertainment. The event, held on Thursday, 27th November 2025, once again proved its status as an unmissable spectacle. It was a joyful, larger-than-life celebration that successfully captured the nation's collective spirit of gratitude and marked the official start of the holiday season for millions watching both in person and from home.
