Kim Cattrall: From Fortnum's Peaches to Vintage Finds, the Actor on Shopping and Splurges
Kim Cattrall: On Shopping, Splurges, and Vintage Finds

Kim Cattrall, best known for her role as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, has opened up about her shopping habits, favorite stores, and the items she splurges on. The actor, who also stars in a new campaign for Debenhams with designer Ashish, shared her insights in an interview with The Guardian.

Treats and Food Shopping

Cattrall's last treat for herself was a meal of fried cod and chips at No1 Cromer in Norfolk, accompanied by curry sauce. She enjoys food shopping and frequents Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's, and Fortnum & Mason for specialty items like peaches in brandy. Reflecting on her past, she noted that she no longer looks for yellow sticker discounts, as she can now afford to shop at Fortnum & Mason.

Gifts and Gadgets

When it comes to gifts, Cattrall values framed photographs, which she considers meaningful and often overlooked. She owns a piano filled with photos in her New York City home, which brings her joy. Despite her fame, she avoids online shopping, preferring to feel fabrics and read labels in person. Her favorite brick-and-mortar store is Bloomingdale's, where she enjoys the department store experience, including lunch with friends.

Cattrall is not into gadgets but loves physical books. She recently finished Sandwich by Catherine Newman and is reading Show Don't Tell by Curtis Sittenfeld. She avoids lending books, as people often fail to return them or fold pages, which she considers a crime. She also enjoys independent bookstores, having brought back many books from a trip to Scotland.

Regrets and Deliveries

Cattrall rarely regrets purchases, as she passes on unwanted items to friends. She regularly orders air filters to reduce dust while traveling. For underwear, she prefers luxury brands, stating, "If it's necessary to wear underwear, I like luxury."

Splurges and Scrimps

Her biggest splurge was renovating her New York City apartment, which took over 20 years to complete. She worked with designer Tony Ingrao, transforming the space into an art deco-inspired haven. She does not scrimp on everyday items, believing in enjoying what she wants. Her greatest vintage find is a 1926 glass mirrored table, which she protects carefully.

Cattrall also shared her love for tea over coffee, preferring Barry's or Yorkshire Tea, and enjoys ginger tea with lemon. She uses a Ninja air fryer for cooking at home, often hosting friends for intimate dinners.
