Henry Holland Reveals His Personal Shopping Habits and Favorites
Henry Holland, the renowned fashion designer who gained fame in 2006 with his "fashion groupie" T-shirts and founded House of Holland in 2008, recently opened up about his shopping preferences in an intimate interview. During the pandemic, he discovered a passion for ceramics, leading to the launch of his lifestyle brand, Henry Holland Studio, in 2021, which specializes in handmade ceramics and homeware. Here, he delves into the everyday items he buys, his favorite stores, and the purchases he regrets.
Treats, Gifts, and Food Shopping
When asked about the last treat he bought for himself, Holland mentioned a new collar and lead from Hay for his rescue puppy, Larry, from Battersea. For food, he relies on Ocado for regular deliveries and Tesco for quick, in-the-moment needs. He shared a memorable gift-giving experience: purchasing a full set of Labubu figures for his nine-year-old niece from StockX, a resale site that authenticates items, which brought her to tears of joy. In return, he received a vintage Rolex watch from his husband for their engagement, opting for watches from their birth years instead of traditional rings.
Favorite Stores and Shopping Habits
Holland's favorite online store is End Clothing, praised for its extensive menswear selection and brand variety, catering to his dual wardrobe needs for studio work and casual outings. For brick-and-mortar shopping, he adores Liberty in London, appreciating its fragrance, jewellery, and homeware departments, as well as its iconic building. He confessed to a shoe-buying problem, often purchasing pairs worn only once, and revealed that he and his husband frequently get food delivered due to a dislike of cooking.
Underwear, Splurges, and Scrimping
In a surprising switch, Holland now prefers Skims underwear over Calvin Klein, having made the change about a year ago. With £20, he'd buy a martini at Bistrotheque, his local cocktail bar, and with £200, humorously, ten martinis. His saved searches on eBay and Vinted include old-season Prada shirts, which he values for their timeless appeal. He buys vape pods on repeat and uses a Sage Oracle Jet coffee machine at home for various coffee types, from flat whites to espresso martinis.
Biggest Splurges and Vintage Finds
Holland's biggest splurge is a personal trainer, essential for motivating him to exercise regularly. Conversely, he scrimps on coffee by using his home machine, saving money compared to buying it out. His greatest vintage find is a 1920s dentistry cabinet, gifted by his mother two decades ago, which he recently resprayed and topped with marble for his dressing room after moving into a larger house.
