Mock the Week Delivers Scathing Takedown of Bill Clinton Over Epstein Testimony

The recently rebooted comedy panel show Mock the Week has launched a fierce comedic assault on former US President Bill Clinton following his recent congressional testimony about his ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a closed-door deposition last week, the 79-year-old politician told lawmakers he 'saw nothing, and did nothing wrong' regarding Epstein, despite being mentioned multiple times in the files alongside his wife, Hillary Clinton.

Comedians Label Clinton the 'Sex President'

During Sunday's episode, host Dara O'Briain and the panel dissected Clinton's testimony with particular venom. Comedian Ahir Shah delivered a brutal assessment, telling fellow panelists Rhys James, Angela Barnes, Milton Jones, Sarah Keyworth, and Glen Moore that 'Bill Clinton is sort of the one guy you're like, it would be weirder if he hadn't been [in the Epstein files].'

As the studio audience erupted in laughter, Shah continued his takedown: 'You find out Stephen Hawking was there and you're like: "Sorry, what?" and then someone finds out Clinton was there and you're like: "Oh yeah, the sex president, that makes sense."' This nickname references Clinton's well-documented personal scandals, most notably his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky during his presidency.

O'Briain Joins the Fray with Sharp Commentary

Host Dara O'Briain quickly joined in on the mockery, quipping: 'Yeah, the guy who had sex in The Oval Office, how would he not have been there? Epstein would be in Clinton's files.' The show highlighted that Clinton had ridden on Epstein's private jet at least 26 times, though both Clintons have consistently denied any wrongdoing related to the financier.

During his congressional testimony, Clinton also defended his wife, stating: 'Before we start, I have to get personal. You made Hillary come in. She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing. She has no memory of even meeting him. She neither travelled with him nor visited any of his properties.'

Broader Context of the Congressional Hearing

The hearing was chaired by James Comer of the House Oversight Committee, who called out people 'of great power and great wealth from all across the world [that] have been able to get away with a lot of heinous crimes' and who 'haven't been held accountable.' This comes after both Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Peter Mandelson were arrested and released on bail following their names appearing in the Epstein files.

Mock the Week's Provocative Return to Television

The long-running comedy panel show has not shied away from controversial topics since its return earlier this year. In its very first episode, O'Briain and the panel ruthlessly mocked the Beckham family feud, including jokes about Russell Howard's mother and Ed Byrne poking fun at Posh Spice's poses. The show continues to tackle the biggest headlines each week with its signature blend of sharp wit and social commentary.

Mock the Week airs Sundays at 9pm on TLC and is available for streaming on discovery+.
