TV personality Judi Love has revealed she finds it flattering when fans mistake her for fellow ITV star Alison Hammond, framing the common mix-up as a reflection of their shared vibrant energy rather than an offence.
A Common Experience Handled with Humour
In a candid interview, the Loose Women panellist and Last One Laughing star addressed the frequent confusion, stating it's something that happens to Black women regularly. She chooses to laugh it off, noting she herself has mixed people up in the past.
'To be honest, we've got big personalities, big smiles, big laughs and we're both juicy, beautiful ladies so it's always a compliment to me,' Love explained. 'The reality is that it happens to Black women all the time. I just laugh when it happens... not everything is necessarily led by ignorance, racism or misogyny.'
New Tour and Future Ambitions
This positive outlook aligns with Love's academic interest; she is hoping to begin a PhD in the next couple of years, focusing on how laughter impacts emotional and mental well-being.
For now, her focus is on the live stage. She is embarking on a new stand-up tour, aptly titled 'All About the Love', which runs from January 30 to June 19. The show promises to reveal more of her personal journey than her television appearances allow.
'There's a perception that people on telly have got it together, but we're human,' she said. 'There are moments in your life where you question yourself, your ability and your purpose. Maybe people will think: "Oh my gosh, she thinks like us," or "She's had experiences like us".'
She highlighted the depth a live stand-up format offers compared to brief TV interviews, allowing her to explore subjects in detail with her audience.
Expanding Her Creative Horizons
Following the success of Amazon Prime's Last One Laughing – which has a second season confirmed – Love is keen to explore more acting roles. She expressed a desire to tackle both serious parts and lighter comedy.
On the comedic front, she has a role in the upcoming Rebel Wilson film Girl Group. Looking ahead, she mused, 'I'd love to make a short film... do a serious role or play a cop. Or maybe I could play the person who gets involved in the cop world by accident.'
Through her tour and future projects, Judi Love aims to connect with audiences by sharing her authentic self, embracing both the highs and lows of life and love with her characteristic humour and insight.
