The Vampire Lestat: Interview with the Vampire Returns
True Blood meets Eurovision in this ludicrously camp vampire drama. The third series of Interview with the Vampire takes a new turn, now set in 2025 with the spotlight on blood-sucking glam rocker Lestat – played so erotically by Sam Reid that he can pull off lines such as “MDMA and LSD: the Torvill and Dean of hallucinogens” and “I carry with me an immortal erection”. The show airs at 9pm on BBC Two.
Other TV Highlights
The Great British Sewing Bee (8pm, BBC One) features reduce, reuse and recycle week: the sewers must transform landfill scraps – everything from potato sacks to curtain rope tassels – into fast fashion and couture. But not before refashioning old T-shirts into three pairs of knickers. Emma: “I’m just going to bask in the glory that Patrick Grant liked my knickers.”
Hotel Chocolat Unwrapped (8pm, Channel 4) returns for a second series, kicking off with the first Hotel Chocolat instore bakery. Elsewhere, the Chocmobile – a van filled with chocolates – hits the summer festivals, while across the Atlantic, a store is set to open in Chicago.
The Undeclared War (9pm, Channel 4) focuses on Siân Brooke’s Dr Barbara Napier as Peter Kosminsky’s portentous cyber thriller continues. There’s some deep background as we flashback to an ill-fated MI6 mission in 2014 and another in 2022. Barbara’s charming but shifty ex, Nicky, is the thread connecting these operations.
Shabaz Asks: Are Billionaires Bad? (9pm, BBC Three) features former Blackburn teacher turned TikTok sensation Shabaz “King of the Povvos” Ali as he goes on a journey to find out – with the aim of meeting a billionaire. Along the way, he’ll meet economists, Zack Polanski and an ex-Apprentice candidate.
Gomorrah: The Origins (9pm, Sky Atlantic) is a 1970s-set prequel shading in the backstory of Don Pietro. The opening double bill sees pimply teen Pietro glimpse a less glamorous side of Camorra life when hunky local underboss Angelo goes on the warpath.

The New Boy (Warwick Thornton, 2023), 11.05pm, BBC Two, stars Aswan Reid as a blond-haired Indigenous boy found in the outback and taken to a Benedictine orphanage run by Cate Blanchett’s unconventional Sister Eileen. When he displays miraculous powers, Eileen sees in him a very Christian divinity.
