Extraordinary Extensions Returns with Glamour and Eco-Inspiration
Tinie Tempah is back with his surprisingly popular series about house extensions, airing at 8pm on Channel 4. The first wealthy couple are unleashing Great Gatsby glamour on to their Edwardian terrace, while the second are transforming their chocolate-box cottage in Norfolk with an eco-build inspired by their love of sailing. According to the show's description, the only concern is that they will finish the job and then wish they had never bothered.
Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip
On PBS America at 1.15pm, it's Ken Burns Day, celebrating the titan of US documentary. The pick is this funny, fascinating film about Dr Horatio Nelson Jackson, voiced by Tom Hanks, and his eccentric, pioneering 1903 car journey across America. The country had hardly any paved roads then, but to Jackson that was a mere detail.
Deal Or No Deal: Banker's Best Battles
A compilation episode of the glorified gambling gameshow airs at 7.30pm on ITV1, now hosted by Stephen Mulhern but still imbued with hints of Noel Edmonds' woo-woo antics. Self-confessed risk-taker Leon has overcome serious health challenges to make it to the show, but plays it surprisingly safe when it comes to his turn in the hot seat.
Casualty 24/7: Every Second Counts
At 8pm on Channel 5, a taxing day at an overcrowded casualty unit at Barnsley hospital sees 71-year-old Enid struggling to breathe, Wayne shot in the foot, volunteer Jane's mother arriving after a fall, and three-year-old Rory with something unusual stuck up his nose. A doctor remarks: "I've seen garden peas. I've seen little bits of Lego. But I've never seen a conker."
Murder 24/7
On BBC One at 9pm, when Chris Hemming rings in to confess to police that he has stabbed his partner, Cheryl McKenna, to death, DCI Gareth Lougher has to establish if the murder was premeditated or if it was manslaughter. Shot using multiple screens and shaky real-time camerawork, this will have your adrenaline levels peaking.
Katie Price: Nothing to Hide
At 9pm on Sky Documentaries, it might be the last in the series but Katie Price's carousel of chaos just keeps spinning – she was engaged to Lee Andrews weeks after filming this. Before him, though, were husbands Alex ("walking weapon/perfect rebound"), Reid, and Kieran Hayler. Her children Junior and Princess speak out about the turbulence of the last few years.
Film: The Devil Wears Prada 2
Miranda Priestly is back in David Frankel's couture-drenched comic sequel, streaming on Disney+. The last 20 years haven't diminished the fashion magazine editor's hauteur one iota. Her former callow assistant, Anne Hathaway's Andy, is now an award-winning investigative journalist. Hired by the owner to improve Runway's reputation, she can take all that Meryl Streep's disdainful Priestly throws at her. This time round, the main conflict is with the internet, as declining print sales and clickbait competition threaten the publication's future. It's a jolly, aspirational outing, buoyed by scene-stealers Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, even if the gags are largely from the preloved rack.
Film: Primate
Johannes Roberts' brutally efficient horror film, streaming on Paramount+, employs all your favourite slasher movie tropes – remote location, invincible foe, gut-wrenching dismemberings, final girl – but makes the serial killer a chimp. Ben was the test subject of a linguistics professor who has recently died, and can communicate using sign language. He now lives with her widower Adam (Troy Kotsur) and teenage daughters, Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) and Erin (Gia Hunter). But a mongoose bite turns the cute ape into a rabid menace and the family's Hawaiian clifftop home into a deathtrap.
