Pointless Winner Reveals Keepsake Rarer Than Trophy
Pointless Winner's Rarer Keepsake Than Trophy

A former contestant on the popular BBC quiz show Pointless has revealed that she possesses a memento from her appearance that she considers even more exclusive than the programme's famous trophy.

The Unusual Souvenir from a Quiz Show Appearance

Rackie, who appeared on BBC One's Pointless alongside her sister Emma back in 2012, recently took to social media to share an intriguing detail about her experience on the show. While many viewers might assume the Pointless trophy would be the ultimate prize, Rackie explained that she managed to secure something even more unique.

Reaching the Final Round

The sisters made an impressive debut on the programme, reaching the final round in their very first episode. They successfully claimed what the show describes as the coveted Pointless trophy – a substantial rectangular glass block engraved with the distinctive scoring meter from the series.

This trophy is itself considered a rare achievement, awarded exclusively to contestants who triumph in the notoriously challenging final round. However, despite their success, Rackie and her sister missed out on the cash prize after failing to provide a pointless answer in that concluding segment.

The Even Rarer Keepsake

Twelve years after her appearance, Rackie disclosed that she actually took home something she believes surpasses both the trophy and the jackpot in terms of rarity: her original name badge from the show.

She explained during her social media revelation: "As well as having the trophy, I actually have something which I think is even rarer, which is my name badge."

Rackie described how the production team typically recycles name badges for common names like her sister's, Emma. However, when she questioned the likelihood of another contestant named Rackie appearing on the programme, the team agreed it was highly improbable and permitted her to keep the badge as a souvenir.

The Significance of a Personalised Memento

This unusual keepsake highlights the personal nature of quiz show experiences beyond the formal prizes. The simple paper card badge, which would normally be reused for future contestants, became a unique artifact because of Rackie's uncommon name.

"They're just sort of made of paper card, and I said, 'are you really going to have another person called Rackie on Pointless?' And they were like, no, probably not, you can take it," she recalled. "My sister didn't even get to keep hers, so I think this might be rarer than having the actual Pointless trophy."

Remembering the Challenge

When asked by viewers about their final question, Rackie revealed it concerned Charlize Theron films – a topic she particularly enjoys, though the pointless answers proved too obscure for the sisters to identify. Despite missing the cash prize, she reflected positively on the overall experience, stating: "But yeah, we had a great time, it was really good fun."

This story offers a fascinating glimpse into the behind-the-scenes elements of television quiz shows and what contestants truly value from their participation. While the glass trophy remains a tangible symbol of achievement, for Rackie, the personalised name badge represents an even more exclusive souvenir from her memorable appearance on one of Britain's most beloved quiz programmes.
