Reflo's Ambitious £2.5 Million Crowdfunding Campaign Values Sustainable Sportswear Brand at £25 Million
In an exclusive announcement, sustainable sportswear company Reflo has launched what co-founder Rory MacFadyen describes as a "punchy" £2.5 million crowdfunding campaign that will value the firm at an impressive £25 million. The brand, which counts England football star Harry Kane and former Manchester United defender Phil Jones among its high-profile backers, is leveraging its celebrity connections and sustainable credentials to attract investment through the Crowdcube platform.
Building Customer Engagement Through Crowdfunding
MacFadyen emphasized that contemporary brands thriving in today's market are those maintaining the closest possible engagement with their customer base. "We think a crowdfund is the perfect way to do that," he stated ahead of the campaign launch. "We think it's punchy but we're a brand that always thinks punchy and always looks at the bigger opportunity. We definitely think it's achievable when we look at what we have in terms of assets and the growth that we've had as a business."
This latest funding round follows a Series A investment last year and an initial £1 million seed round in 2024, marking significant growth for the company founded in 2021 by MacFadyen and Peter Philippou. Five years into operation, Reflo maintains a robust 60 percent gross margin while expanding its partnerships across multiple sports sectors.
High-Profile Backing and Credibility Boost
The brand's roster extends beyond individual athletes to include Formula 1 team Williams, football clubs Forest Green Rovers and Luton Town, plus agreements across golf and motorsport. MacFadyen highlighted how their investor base provides crucial credibility: "It's not just the likes of Phil Jones or Harry Kane who invested previously. We continually get people approaching us – from small-scale people, who might be interested in putting a few hundred or a few thousand in, all the way up to other athletes that we come across in day-to-day life."
He added: "For people to see that there are top-tier athletes or former athletes involved definitely helps build some credibility, and we'll be leaning on those guys to help push and spread the message out far and wide." The company plans to actively leverage its investor network to promote the crowdfunding campaign across multiple channels.
Sustainable Business Model with Global Ambitions
Following the crowdfunding campaign, Reflo will continue operating across three distinct revenue pillars: the core brand and its direct-to-consumer operations, sustainable kits for elite sports teams, and corporate B2B apparel services. Co-founder Peter Philippou explained their approach: "We make our lives harder by doing things properly. Cleaner materials, responsible manufacturing, better design. It proves sustainability and profitability can co-exist. This raise is about scaling that model globally."
The company's commitment to environmental responsibility while maintaining profitability represents a growing trend in the sportswear industry, where consumers increasingly demand both performance and ethical production standards. With the £2.5 million crowdfunding campaign now underway, Reflo aims to accelerate its expansion while maintaining the sustainable principles that have attracted both celebrity investors and environmentally-conscious customers.
