The Wednesday letters page anticipates more bad news from Xbox, while a reader pitches a Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster. Inbox is a collection of reader opinions; join the discussion at gamecentral@metro.co.uk.
Cross-Generational GTA 6 and PS6 Speculation
Trepsils writes: "With all the talk about GTA 6 on PS5 and 60fps, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the PS6. GTA 6 is in the same position as GTA 5 was, with a new generation coming. Given GTA 5 spanned three generations, GTA 6 will likely get a PS6 version. Sony is promoting GTA 6 like an exclusive, and they have a marketing deal with Rockstar. It wouldn't surprise me if GTA 6 was an exclusive that generation, hurting Xbox's plans. It makes sense, especially if the PS5 Pro can't do 60fps. I predict within a few years everyone will think of GTA 6 as a PS6 game."
Digital Foundry's GTA 6 Graphics Analysis Questioned
Early judgement writes: "Digital Foundry seems on a warpath with GTA 6. They judged graphics based on DLC promo shots and now say it won't hit 60fps. I'm not a technical expert, but you can't judge from the trailer. We assume Rockstar is fudging things; the trailer might be the PC version. Let's wait for the final game before deciding."
Switch 2 Lineup and Splatoon Raiders Concerns
Korbie comments: "Splatoon Raiders doesn't sound exciting from any preview. The Switch 2 lineup after Donkey Kong Bananza seems copied from year four or five. Nothing released since last autumn seems sensible. I won't get Splatoon Raiders."
Console Pricing vs. Mobile Phones
Mark Matthews writes: "People complaining about £700+ consoles happily pay £700+ for a phone. Phones are paid monthly, but consoles have interest-free credit. My Xbox Series X was on a 24-month plan. Phones are updated yearly, consoles last nearly a decade. A grand isn't crazy for the entertainment value. You can trade in old consoles too."
Quiet Release Months and Xbox Layoffs
Sorbet writes: "If June and July are quiet, why didn't September/October games move up? Almost none changed dates. Onimusha is the only big name, showing Capcom has its head screwed on. The upcoming Xbox layoffs highlight how dumb decisions affect lives. To us it's just a game; to developers, it's their livelihood."
Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster Pitch
Gaz be rotten (gamertag) pitches: "Following the success of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster in 2024, I suggest a Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster as the ultimate tribute to Fortune City. It should consolidate the Dead Rising 2 era into one package: dual campaigns (Chuck and Frank), modernised Terror is Reality multiplayer, and bundled DLC Case Zero and Case West. The community wants the original voice cast back, including Peter Flemming as Chuck Greene. This would bridge nostalgia with modern technology."
GTA 6 on Switch 2 and PC Version
Grant writes: "If PS5 can't run GTA 6 at 60fps, how can they release it on Switch 2? The console is more powerful than it looks, but there's no Red Dead Redemption 2 port yet. If they haven't announced a PC version, a Switch 2 version would be years away."
Call of Duty Not on Game Pass Day One
Change of plans writes: "The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 not coming to Game Pass day one is sad and hilarious. Two years of day-one Call of Duty on Game Pass is over. That was the point of Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard. All that money, lost jobs, and the plan failed after two tries. Now we're days away from more layoffs. Xbox seems a waste. The Xbox 360 was important, but online gaming would've happened anyway. Achievements are the only Xbox innovation, but we could've lived without them if they hadn't bought Activision and Bethesda."
Inbox Also-Rans
Kiff: "What's the betting the Blade game gets cancelled with Microsoft's job losses? I'm worried they'll shut down the other Arkane studio." Tacle: "I get why Microsoft bosses want to streamline Xbox. It doesn't make money and is getting worse. I blame Phil Spencer, not the current boss."
