New Aldi Opens on Old Kent Road Just in Time for Christmas Shopping

Shoppers in South London have received an early Christmas present with the announcement of a brand new Aldi store opening its doors this December.

The discount supermarket giant will welcome customers to its new Old Kent Road location in SE15 on Thursday, December 11 at 8am, perfectly timed for the crucial festive shopping period. Local residents will now have access to what's frequently cited as the UK's cheapest supermarket for their Christmas essentials.

What's Inside the New Store

The new Aldi will be fully stocked to meet all festive needs. Shoppers can expect to find fresh food, British meat products, and weekly offers. The store will also feature Aldi's popular "specially selected" range, exclusive alcohol lines, and a convenient "Food to Go" section for those in a hurry.

True to Aldi's signature style, the store will include the famous middle aisle, known for its ever-changing rotation of "special buys." These quirky non-food items will be updated regularly, with new stock arriving every Thursday and Sunday, offering everything from electrical gadgets to garden tools.

Grand Opening and Christmas Hours

The opening ceremony promises to be a memorable event, with Olympic rowing star Moe Sbihi performing the honours. Sbihi commented: "I'm so excited to be opening Aldi's new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB."

Store Manager Spencer Gallagher added: "We can't wait to open the doors to the new store on Old Kent Road. It's set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Moe Sbihi join us will make it a morning to remember."

Once open, the supermarket's standard trading hours will be 8am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
