There is nothing little about The Little Soap Company. Founded by Emma Heathcote-James in 2008, who made her first bar of organic, eco-friendly, 100% vegan, and cruelty-free soap at her kitchen table, the brand now sells a bar every 23 seconds. This impressive popularity is well-deserved, as these luxurious yet affordable soap bars prove that indulgence can align with ethical standards. The company is certified as a B Corp and declared carbon negative, reflecting its belief that businesses should improve the world.
What Makes These Soap Bars Stand Out?
I tested bars from three of the company's ranges: Eco Warrior, Organics, and Naturals. It is easy to see how the brand has won numerous awards, including the Queen's Award for Innovation. The Organic Pure Rose Geranium Soap Bar, known as the "happy soap," is the flagship fragrance. Made with natural ingredients like rose geranium essential oil, it balances the skin's natural oil production, making it suitable for both dry and oily skin. It also boasts anti-inflammatory, healing, and regenerative properties, all enhanced by an uplifting floral scent. Normally priced at £3.99, it is currently on offer at Amazon for £3.60.
The Naturals range is fragranced with a blend of essential oils and is free from harsh chemicals. I tried the Ginger & Lemongrass 100g soap, which lathers well and leaves skin clean and soft. Typically £2.30, it is now available for £1.95 on Amazon.
Eco Warrior Range: A Multi-Award Winner
My personal favourite is the Eco Warrior range, which has won so many awards that there is barely space on the packaging to display them all. Options include the sensitive scalp shampoo bar, clear skin bar, and body scrub bar, priced at £3.75 but currently reduced to £3.37 on Amazon. The body scrub version, blended with oatmeal and citrus essential oils, serves as an excellent all-over exfoliator.
