Aldi has confirmed plans to open four new supermarkets across London and Greater London, with locations in Orpington, Stepney Green, Hanworth, and Willesden. The announcement follows the retailer's latest annual results, which recorded a 5% increase in turnover to a record £19bn for the 12 months ending December 31, 2025.
The new stores are part of Aldi's wider expansion programme, which aims to grow its estate to 1,500 stores nationwide. The supermarket currently operates 1,092 stores across the UK.
Expansion Programme Targets New Communities
According to Aldi, the four new London locations will help bring its low-price offering to more communities in the capital. The company said it continues to invest in expanding its estate as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer for Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “We’re working hard to make good food more affordable for every family – cutting prices on everyday essentials, signing long-term supplier agreements to help increase home-grown production, and continuing to bring affordable groceries to even more communities through our store opening programme.”
Record Annual Results Boost Expansion Plans
The store opening announcement coincides with Aldi's latest annual results, which showed a turnover increase of 5% to a record £19bn in the last 12 months ending on December 31, 2025. The company attributed this growth to its focus on low prices and product quality.
Hurley added: “This is why more customers are buying more products at Aldi – our relentless focus on simple, everyday low prices and award-winning quality.”
Impact on London's Grocery Market
The four new stores will add to Aldi's existing presence in the capital, strengthening competition in London's grocery sector. The expansion is expected to provide more affordable shopping options for residents in the four boroughs.
Aldi's growth programme remains on track, with the retailer continuing to identify new locations across the UK as part of its target to reach 1,500 stores.
