London's luxury hotel scene continues to dazzle with two new establishments earning global acclaim. The Chancery Rosewood in Mayfair and The Newman in Fitzrovia have been named among the 100 best new hotels in the world for 2026 by the prestigious travel publication Travel + Leisure.
Global Recognition for London's Newest Luxury Hotels
Travel + Leisure compiled its annual list by sending editors and writers to evaluate nearly 250 properties across 40 countries that opened or underwent significant renovations between February 2025 and February 2026. Among the elite selections, London stands out with two remarkable entries that showcase the city's enduring appeal in high-end hospitality.
The Chancery Rosewood: Opulence in Mayfair
Located in the historic Grade II-listed former US embassy on Grosvenor Square, the Chancery Rosewood opened its doors in September 2025. This marks Rosewood's second London property, following its Holborn location. The hotel features eight distinct restaurants and bars, offering Japanese, Mediterranean, and British cuisines, along with a stunning roof terrace, a large swimming pool, and an exceptionally luxurious spa.
Travel + Leisure highlighted the unique experience of enjoying a martini on the terrace next to the embassy's iconic 35-foot-wide golden eagle, describing it as a symbol of power overlooking London. Notably, all accommodations at the Chancery Rosewood are suites, contributing to its exclusive pricing with nightly rates starting at an impressive £1,280.
The Newman: A Design Gem in Fitzrovia
In Fitzrovia, The Newman debuted in February 2026 as an independently owned hotel that has quickly captured attention. Travel + Leisure praised it as a jazzy little design number, noting its Art Deco-inspired geometric patterns, swirling marbles, and a rich coffeehouse color palette across its 81 rooms.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, The Newman offers a comprehensive wellness floor complete with a gym, sauna, hydrotherapy pool, steam room, ice room, and halotherapy room. The hotel also houses the acclaimed Brasserie Angelica restaurant and a plush bar. Time Out contributor Anya Ryan remarked on its serene atmosphere, stating that despite its central location, the hotel provides a sense of rest and relaxation with friendly staff, soft lighting, and calming scents.
London's Consistent Excellence in Hospitality
This recognition marks the second consecutive year that two London hotels have made Travel + Leisure's prestigious list. In 2025, The Emory and Mandarin Oriental in Mayfair were similarly honored, underscoring London's ongoing dominance in the global luxury hotel market. With new five-star accommodations emerging regularly, the capital continues to set high standards in hospitality, blending historic grandeur with modern innovation.
