A massive new entertainment complex called Mega City is set to open in Slough, Berkshire, on May 30, 2026, just 40 minutes from Central London via the Elizabeth Line. The £11 million venue spans 55,000 square feet across three floors and two mezzanine levels, offering a wide range of activities for both children and adults.
Location and Accessibility
Located at 233/249 High Street, Mega City is an eight-minute walk from the Elizabeth Line station. It aims to draw visitors from London and beyond, with late-night hours throughout the week. On Fridays and Saturdays, it stays open from 10am to 2.30am, and on other days from 10am to 1.30am.
Attractions and Activities
The venue boasts over 130 arcade machines, 10 bowling lanes, a laser tag arena for up to 24 players, laser raid and maze challenges, battling cages, augmented reality clay pigeon shooting and darts, karaoke and private party rooms, pool tables, Flashpads, and Total Football. A restaurant and bar serves Detroit-style pizzas, loaded fries, and cocktails.
Payment System
Mega City operates a fully cashless payment system. Visitors purchase credit at kiosks and receive a play card that can be tapped on machines to authorize use. The card tracks points for prizes. For pre-booked group activities like bowling or laser tag, a QR code is provided for automatic activation upon scanning.
Community Impact
The opening comes as a boost for Slough, which has faced negative perceptions. In December 2024, Rightmove named it the UK's most miserable place to live. Locals have described it as an 'island of despair' and 'North Windsor.' Mega City is seen as a pinnacle of the town's regeneration, aiming to increase footfall and improve community spirit.
