CD Projekt has officially confirmed a new DLC expansion for The Witcher 3, titled Songs Of The Past, but fans will have to wait until 2027 to play it. The announcement came ahead of a planned livestream celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Blood & Wine expansion.
DLC Details and Release Window
The expansion is being developed jointly by CD Projekt and Fool's Theory, a Polish studio composed of former CD Projekt staff. Fool's Theory is also working on a full remake of the first Witcher game. Songs Of The Past will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, leaving last-gen consoles behind.
Story and Connection to The Witcher 4
While the story remains under wraps, CD Projekt confirmed that Geralt will be the protagonist. Speculation suggests the DLC will serve as a bridge to The Witcher 4, where Ciri takes over as the main character. This could be a final adventure for Geralt before the sequel, which is rumored to launch in 2027 or 2028.
CD Projekt plans to share more details during a livestream on May 28 at 4pm BST on YouTube and Twitch, but further information won't be released until late summer. Fans are disappointed by the low-key reveal, as the industry increasingly loses its sense of showmanship.
