The latest GTA Online update, the Kortz Center Heist, has sparked speculation among fans that Rockstar Games is using it to tease details about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. The heist, which targets an art museum, includes several paintings that players believe reference GTA 6 protagonists Jason and Lucia.
Paintings spark betrayal theories
One painting depicts a man and a woman in a car, with a thought bubble above the man's head reading 'Chat, am I cooked?' while he looks at the woman distrustfully. Another painting, titled 'Trust,' shows a Bonnie and Clyde-esque couple robbing a diner. Fans interpret these as hints that Lucia may betray Jason during GTA 6's story, a theory fueled by Rockstar's website descriptions stating that meeting Lucia 'may be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him' and that she is 'committed to her plan — no matter what it takes.'
Map and character hints
A more far-fetched theory suggests a painting of women playing in a field is a recreation of GTA 6's map, which Rockstar has not officially revealed. Additionally, a new character in the update wears a necklace matching that of GTA 6 cast member Carl Hampton and a shirt with an 'Art Oregano Vice City' logo, possibly referencing the Art Basel fair in Miami Beach, given Vice City's Florida inspiration.
Fan reactions divided
Reactions on the GTA 6 subreddit are split, with some believing the paintings are deliberate teases and others dismissing them as coincidences. For instance, the 'In the Car' painting resembles a real-world artwork. This follows previous incorrect theories, such as using the moon to predict a trailer release date. Despite the marketing silence, GTA 6 reportedly made $1 million in pre-orders within an hour of going live, and some fans are buying copies on eBay above the £69.99 price tag despite its digital-only status.
