PwC UK has promoted 60 new partners in 2024, a slight increase from 56 in the previous year, as the Big Four firm continues to invest in its advisory and tax practices. The promotions, effective July 1, include 28 women, representing 47% of the new partner cohort, up from 43% in 2023.
Advisory and Tax Lead Promotions
The majority of the new partners are in the firm's advisory (32) and tax (14) divisions, reflecting strong client demand for consulting and tax services. The remaining promotions are spread across assurance (10) and internal firm services (4). The geographic distribution includes 31 promotions in London, 15 in the regions, and 14 in international offices.
Diversity and Inclusion Focus
PwC UK chair Kevin Ellis said: "Our continued investment in partner promotions reflects the strength of our business and the quality of our people. We are particularly pleased to see the increase in female promotions, which demonstrates our commitment to building a diverse leadership team." The firm has set a target for 40% of its partners to be women by 2030, and this year's intake brings the current proportion to 27%.
Market Context
The uptick in promotions comes amid a challenging market for professional services, with firms facing pressure on fees and margins. However, PwC UK reported revenue growth of 10% to £5.3 billion in the year to June 2023, driven by strong demand for digital transformation and sustainability consulting. The new partners will join the existing partnership of around 1,000.
