UK Hotter Than Hawaii: Temperatures to Hit 27°C

The United Kingdom is poised to experience temperatures surpassing those of Hawaii, with the mercury expected to climb to 27°C in London and parts of East England, according to the Met Office. This balmy spell arrives just in time for the May bank holiday weekend, offering a taste of summer after weeks of anticipation.

Warm Spell Across the Country

The warm and sunny conditions will stretch from the Midlands through Yorkshire and into the North East on Friday, while western parts of the UK will see cooler weather. The Met Office has noted that Friday's temperatures are approximately 10°C above the seasonal average.

Bank Holiday Weekend Forecast

Saturday morning is expected to start sunny in London, with temperatures around 18°C at midday, but clouds will move in later, bringing a chance of rain in the late afternoon. Sunday will see typical British weather, with temperatures remaining just below 20°C and showers possible across most regions. Monday's forecast is still uncertain, but the Met Office predicts early rain clearing to sunshine and showers, with cooler conditions early next week.

Holly Clements, Met Office head of warnings and guidance, advised: 'As we head into the first bank holiday of the summer, many people may be planning to spend more time outside. While warm sunshine is welcome for some, it's important to be prepared for higher UV levels, pollen, and the potential for weather conditions to change. Being WeatherReady means checking the forecast, understanding the risks, and taking simple steps so plans don't get spoiled.'

The warm weather is a welcome change for many, but the Met Office urges caution and preparation for the changing conditions.
