Two Killed in Ohio Plane Crash Into House, Family Escapes

Two people have been killed after a small plane crashed into a home in Akron, Ohio, on Thursday. The aircraft, which had two occupants, went down in the Canterbury Circle neighborhood, striking a house with a family inside. Both individuals on board were pronounced dead at the scene.

Video footage from the incident shows a massive fire engulfing the area after the plane burst into flames upon impact. Witnesses reported hearing engine trouble moments before the crash. Resident Lewis Short described the event: 'I heard a lot of sputtering, like the engine cut on and cut off and within 10 seconds, something like that, "boom."'

Another neighbor, Jewell Ulrich, told Fox News: 'We heard this humongous loud noise and all the neighbors were running out of the house, ran down that way. You could see the house was on fire, so we were trying to make sure everybody was able to get out and it was just this huge fire, like instant.'

Miraculously, all occupants of the house escaped without injury. The father, who was in the basement when the crash occurred, rushed upstairs and grabbed his children. Ulrich added: 'God was definitely watching over them because he got out with both his kids and the dog, so yes, blessed beyond measure.'

The American Red Cross of Northern Ohio confirmed they are assisting the affected family. In a statement, the organization said: 'Red Cross volunteers were on scene of the small plane crash on Canterbury Circle in Akron. We are currently assisting four family members whose home was directly impacted by the crash. Thank you to our first responders, including Akron Fire Department, and to our Northern Ohio volunteers who continue to step up.'

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
