A security guard suffered life-changing injuries after being struck by a Mercedes outside a London nightclub, as an influencer remains in a critical condition following the same incident.
Details of the Incident
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 am on Sunday outside the Inca nightclub on Argyll Street in Soho. Luke Alsford, a security guard from Edgware, north London, was attempting to move his e-scooter when the vehicle ploughed into him and influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska, known online as Klaudiaglam. Ms Zakrzewska, who has a large following on Instagram and TikTok, is fighting for her life in hospital.
Former X Factor finalist Gabrielle Carrington, 29, appeared in court on Tuesday charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, and drink driving. She was remanded in custody after a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Victim's Background
Mr Alsford, a fitness enthusiast who regularly posts gym photos on social media, also worked as a security guard at other London venues, including Martello Hall cocktail bar and a banquet hall in Hackney. His account shows him working at various locations across the capital.
Footage of the Crash
Video footage circulating online shows a woman getting into a black car before it surges forward, striking Ms Zakrzewska, who goes under the vehicle. Mr Alsford, who was unlocking his e-scooter, was flung to the side, according to the Daily Mail. He was later seen slumped on the ground while Ms Zakrzewska lay motionless on the pavement.
Ms Zakrzewska had attended the Inca nightclub on Saturday night with friends and is believed to have been involved in a heated argument outside the venue before the crash. She remains in a life-threatening condition, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Monday evening.
Court Appearance
At Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Carrington, dressed in grey, stood with her hands on her hips as District Judge Nina Tempia remanded her in custody. She made a heart sign with her hands towards friends and family in the packed public gallery as she was led out of the dock. She is accused of dangerous driving, being nearly twice the drink-drive limit, and causing injuries to two other people who were also hit by her Mercedes. She did not enter any pleas during the hearing.
Carrington found fame when she reached the live finals of The X Factor in 2013 as part of the girl group Miss Dynamix.
