Police are intensifying their search for a 27-year-old hiker who disappeared from a popular trail in Western Australia three months ago. Samuel Whitsed, who traveled from Victoria to hike the Bibbulmun Track near Perth, was last seen on February 18 carrying camping gear near the Brookton Highway junction with Albany Highway.
Search Efforts Underway
Authorities have become increasingly concerned for Whitsed's welfare and have enlisted the help of officers, rangers, and volunteers to scour dense vegetation and rough terrain. Between April 28 and May 7, search teams focused on the area around Canning Hut and Brookton Campsite after discovering a tent believed to belong to Whitsed. Despite extensive efforts, no further sightings have been made.
Public Appeal
WA police have urged anyone with information about Whitsed's whereabouts to come forward. He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt or light-colored jumper, black trousers, and slides. Whitsed is described as approximately 170-180 cm tall, with a slim to medium build, short brown hair, a beard, and a moustache.
The mysterious disappearance has sparked concern among the hiking community, and police continue to appeal for public assistance as the search enters its third month.
