A new train line linking Prague and Copenhagen has officially opened, offering travelers an affordable alternative to air travel amid a jet fuel crisis. Tickets start from just £53, with daily services departing from Prague's main station, Hlavní Nádraží.
Route and Timings
The service stops in Dresden, Berlin, and Hamburg before reaching Copenhagen. The first departure leaves Prague at 6:30 AM, arriving in Copenhagen at 7:38 PM, covering approximately 394 miles. The journey takes about 13 hours, with trains reaching speeds up to 230 km/h. In summer, an additional 4:30 PM departure will be added.
Ticket Prices
Fares are budget-friendly: Prague to Berlin costs around £15, to Hamburg £23, and to Copenhagen £53. Tickets can be purchased via Czech Railways, Deutsche Bahn, or Danske Statsbaner websites, ticket offices, or apps.
Onboard Amenities
The ComfortJet trains feature onboard restaurants, Wi-Fi, bike storage, a children's cinema, first- and second-class carriages, disabled access, baby stroller space, air conditioning, and quiet compartments.
Background and Future Plans
This route, a decade in the making, is a joint effort by Czech Railways, Deutsche Bahn, and Danske Statsbaner. It is one of ten European Commission pilot projects to boost cross-border rail. A Munich-Milan-Rome service is scheduled for December 2026, using Frecciarossa 1000 trains.
