Christopher Nolan's latest film, an adaptation of Homer's epic The Odyssey, is the first feature film ever shot entirely on Imax 1570 film, the highest-resolution film format in existence. Only 41 cinemas worldwide can project this format.
Only Southern Hemisphere Venue
Guardian Australia goes behind the scenes at Imax Melbourne, the only cinema in the southern hemisphere with a 1570 reel of Nolan's film. Fans are embarking on epic journeys to see The Odyssey the way he wants them to.
According to Guardian Australia, the film's exclusive format has driven audiences to travel long distances. Imax Melbourne's general manager said, "We've had people flying from New Zealand and South America just to experience the film in its intended format."
Technical Achievement
The 1570 film stock offers 12 times the resolution of standard digital cinema. Nolan's commitment to the format pushed technical boundaries, requiring custom-built cameras and projection systems.
