There's no doubt about it, it's been a glorious week of belting sunshine in London and the weekend promises to begin on a high. Today (Thursday, April 30) will be sunny although temperatures will reach a modest peak of 20C. But tomorrow (Friday) promises to be a balmy day with climes of 25C in the afternoon and sunshine right up to the evening.
The weekend will see the return of showers, with light rain and light winds expected on Saturday. But there is even more severe weather the following day. Sunday, May 3, will see thunderstorms in mid-afternoon and almost constant heavy rainfall from dawn till dusk.
The good news is the storms won't last, although next week will be dreary. Monday, May 4, is forecast to be a muted day with some drizzle and light winds, and temperatures down to a peak of around 18C. The general drudgery will linger throughout next week, with peak temperatures dropping into the mid-teens and lingering rainfall expected throughout the period.
The Met Office states: "Thursday will be another day of long sunny spells, though rather breezy once again by afternoon... tomorrow starts chilly then will mostly be fine through the day and turning very warm by afternoon. Maximum temperature 26C." The outlook for Saturday to Monday is cloudier over the weekend and into Monday, with an increased chance of rain or showers, probably heavy and thundery at times. Temperatures will return to near normal with generally light winds.
