A new direct train service from London to Stirling, Scotland, has launched, offering tickets from just £29.90. Budget rail operator Lumo began running the route on Monday, May 25, connecting London Euston to Stirling for the first time.
Stirling: A Top Weekend Destination
Stirling has been gaining recognition as a must-visit destination. It ranked second on Time Out's list of the best weekend trips from London in 2026 and was named among the best undiscovered cities in Britain. The city boasts the historic Stirling Castle, the National Wallace Monument, and the Highland Games every August. It is also the place where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned at just nine months old.
Visitors can enjoy pastries from Unorthodox Roasters and Vera, traditional Scottish fare at Brea, and whisky from Stirling Distillery. According to Rightmove, Stirling is the happiest place in Scotland.
Lumo Direct Service Details
Trains run four times a day Monday to Saturday and three times on Sundays. A single ticket from London to Stirling starts at £29.90, while London to Preston is £23.90 and Preston to Stirling £14.90. The service also stops at Milton Keynes, Nuneaton, Crewe, Preston, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Whifflet, Greenfaulds, and Larbert.
This is the first time Stirling has been linked to the West Coast mainline, eliminating the need to travel via Glasgow. Journey times range from five to six hours. Tickets can be booked on the Lumo website.
