London City Airport, consistently ranked among the best in the UK for its central location and efficient service, is set to open its first-ever luxury pre-flight lounge in early 2027. The new lounge will feature a five-star hotel-style entrance, a central cocktail bar, and a barista station serving locally roasted coffee, according to an announcement from the airport.
Lounge features and design
The lounge's design emulates a swanky five-star hotel lobby, with a rotating food and drinks menu sourced from and inspired by the airport's surroundings. For business travelers, a dedicated workspace with seating and private booths will be available for work calls. The hospitality experience is not linked to any specific airline, welcoming all departing passengers.
Construction and access
Construction is currently underway, with the lounge expected to open in early 2027. Entry prices have not yet been revealed, but passengers will be able to book online or walk in and pay upon arrival. The airport has also hinted at annual memberships for frequent travelers.
Airport expansion plans
London City Airport plans to grow its passenger numbers to nine million per year, with additional flight routes and new aircraft. The new lounge offers a premium space to escape the crowds as the airport expands. The airport's existing facilities already include upgraded restaurants, expanded duty-free shopping, and 30 percent more seating in the departure lounge.
