A tragic shooting near a popular Spanish coastal resort has left two people dead and four others seriously injured, including two young children. The victims include a seven-month-old baby who was rushed to a hospital intensive care unit after being shot twice. The incident occurred late last night in El Canalillo, a area between Balanegra and El Ejido in the southeastern province of Almeria. This location is close to Almerimar, a well-known tourist destination on the Costa de Almeria, famous for its sandy beaches and one of Andalucia's largest marinas.

Details of the Shooting

According to local reports, the seven-month-old baby is in a 'very serious' condition at Torrecardenas University Hospital, the main public hospital in Almeria. Another minor injured, an 18-month-old toddler, is also in the same intensive care unit. The children's mother was also injured and has been taken to Poniente University Hospital in El Ejido. The two deceased are believed to be the parents of the gunman, according to local media.

Gunman on the Run

The gunman, believed to be related to some of the victims, remained at large this morning. However, a 25-year-old man later turned himself in to police and was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation. Police were called to the scene at 11:15 PM and dispatched members of the Civil Guard's elite Rapid Response Group. The investigation is ongoing.
